Fresh 2021 Horus collab pours pitch black with loads of coconut floaters. Sticky on the sides while pouring. Nose is strong vanilla and a supporting nuttiness. Menacing. First sips are powerful dark malts with ample sweetness from the vanilla. The middle is met with a subtle yet definite toasted nuttiness from the macadamias. If you’ve ever eaten macadamia nuts, it’s like that. Mouthfeel is thick, oily, syrupy…maybe one or two steps below a reduction that would be poured over vanilla bean ice cream. If I had vanilla bean ice cream in the house, I’d be writing about a float…a dreamy, boozy float. Alcohol hides fairly well. It’s dessert-like most assuredly, but could probably be morphed into other areas, e.g., cuvée with some American barleywine to cut the sweetness, pour over ice cream, mix with some orange liqueur…
After a second bottle later on, I downgraded this a bit because it’s ultimately too heavy handed.
