This Barleywine features Marris Otter malt along with Fuggles and East Kent Golding hops. We aged beer 13 months in a barrel pick Four Rose's OESF barrel which lends notes of sticky caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and dates.

Very good English style BABW. Shared a glass at Mortalis.
Enjoyed complexity of caramel, toffee, dried fruit in addition to woody vanilla. Nicely restrained booze.
Impressed. More than a few times barrel aging a BW can draw out additional syrupy sweetness. But this Mortalis brew did not fall prey to that.
Wish I had gotten full pour to see how brew evolved with warming.
Nice job!

2021 Pink wax. So far, it’s what I might call “delicate,” from an aroma and taste stance. At 15%, it’s big. Lightly spicy nose. Flavor starts with a bit of hop like an American, but then switches very quickly to a sweeter English style. Barrel is subdued, but it’s a Four Roses RocElite barrel pick for the bourbon barrel. Drinks very smoothly, and that 15% isn’t even noticeable.
