This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This one smells like rich and creamy coffee, sweet almond, milk chocolate, and caramel.
This definitely tastes good, but I really wish that I got more barrel here. You maybe get a little bit as this warms up a more. The coffee character is absolutely stellar here, rich, creamy, vibrant, chocolatey, and fruity. But, it seems that the coconut, almond, and especially the chocolate are just too heavy handed to my palate, and overwhelm the barrel here. I'm splitting hairs here - I'm used to excellence in the Mortalis barrel program, and I want more barrel.
This is super thick and super creamy, with very little booziness, and a sweet and decadent smooth finish.
The original Hyperion, non-barrel aged, was unfortunately better than this one. I still quite enjoyed it, but there's been a good bit of Mortalis barrel aged stuff that I've enjoyed more.

I’ve been getting away from dessert stouts, but Mortalis has variety in how they do them. Sometimes they’re more traditional stout with subtle flavors, sometimes they’re bombastic. This is most assuredly in the latter type. Maybe literally like a melted Almond Joy bar with coffee. Super thick mouthfeel. Aroma is very nice. Two bourbon barrels give it bite. Mostra coffee is full flavored, chewy, creamy. Coconut sparkles on top let you know it’s real, with solid aroma to support it.
