16oz can. No dating information found; the label says to 'DRINK FRESH DON'T AGE'.
Thick and opaque body, with a deep scarlet red color. Brief fizzy head that does not last. No lacing but leaves a thicker film.
Aroma has graham cracker holding up lots of berry - raspberry and blackberry. Peach is indistinct.
Taste has the grain sweetness of graham cracker, and the berry tartness. Blackberry and raspberry are a great mix. Some peachiness as flavors mellow. In the sour realm, the aftertaste is quite lengthy.
Based on appearance the felt mouthfeel is less thick than expected even though more than average. No extremes on sweetness nor sourness; all in good balance. Supportive carbonation.
Fermented fruit smoothie blended with squares of graham crackers.

The pour isn't as ugly and chunky as some beers in this family. I like the color and the fizz trapped by the fruit was cool - kinda made a creamy top for a few seconds.

The smell is all of what the label says plus a but of vanilla. I can go with a fruity pie here.

And it tastes exactly the same. Blackberry and raspberry forward, a layer of peach, then the Graham cracker crust. Slightly tart - all fruit-driven tart - any semblance of a base sour is obliterated by the fruit, at least for a bit. It's slightly sweet, a quick taste of vanilla initially. At the end of the taste there's a vague beer character that comes in.

It's pretty smooth on the feel. Not as thick and chunky as some other Mortalis offerings. A little berry seed comes through on the finish.

Ok...it might it might not be a beer but I generally enjoy these things. This one is pleasant, a little more refreshing than some in this genre. It's fun, fresh, and fruit-i-licous.

CAN
Lurid dark purple with a scattering of pink bubble that are gone fast; bright berry jam with undertones of brown sugar + biscuit; intense dark berry, hints of caramel + cookie, lime zest, gentle lactic sourness, and

raspberry, blackberry, peach, and graham cracker

Not a looker but oh, that nose! Crazily intense fruit is obvious but that thread of sweet crustiness makes the whole thing smell like fresh pie.
Taste carries on in the same vein. The sweetness threatens to overwhelm but never quite does, though I find myself wishing for more sour in my sour. Can’t say I get the peach; I imagine it’s melding everything together + keeping it from the tartness that pure berry would bring.
I’m not a fan of pastry sours but when they’re this good I can see the fuss.
HOWEVER, the bottom half of the can pours like a fruit smoothie that could’ve used a few more seconds in the blender. Hudson Valley bring the fruit without sludge so there’s really no excuse for this. Can’t be having that; .5 of Feel + Overall straight off.

Hits as a concept, and fun, too - if you don’t mind pouring half the can down the drain.
