This Fruited Sour was brewed in collaboration with WeldWerks Brewing Co. It blends Passion Fruit, Prickly Pear, Raspberry, and Coconut together to form just one of this monster's many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations

Drank from a 1 pint / 16 fl. oz. can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Served in a tulip
Wow, what a strange looking beer. A gigantic, sticky, foamy mass of light apricot colored bubbles filled the entire glass. Toward the end of the pour, some light orangey-pink liquid was noticeable too, but it was dwarfed by the foam. As the head receded, a sticky, chunky wall of lacing coated the glass from top to bottom.
The aroma was impressive. Really fruity and bright. Quite sweet but not excessively so. Passionfruit came through strongest. Some raspberry was noticeable as well. Bit of peach or apricot too. Hint of vanilla. Both the coconut and the prickly pear were completely lost on me however.
The flavor profile was enjoyable but somewhat strange. Passionfruit was most prominent again. Good dose of raspberry too. The coconut was noticeable here but definitely more so in the foamy head than in the liquid. Coconut creme came to mind. Some vanilla was noticeable as well. Tangy lemon notes appeared on the back end and the finish. Hint of bitterness. The sweet-tart combo and the creamy notes from the coconut gave the beer a somewhat strange curdled quality.
The mouthfeel was difficult to describe. The liquid was medium bodied and contained a gentle carbonation, but the foamy mass that sat atop the beer was super thick, creamy, chunky and slick, like coconut creme.
450 North are typically the brewery I think of when it comes to “glop glop” fruited sours, but Mortalis occasionally make some as well, and this beer is one of their more intense iterations. While the nose on this was great, the flavor profile (though enjoyable) seemed slightly “off,” and the appearance left much to be desired. Although I still enjoy these types of beers, I have less tolerance than I once did for the extreme nature of some.
