Look - Pours a nice black color with a very thick head that lasted sevaral minutes.

Smell - Brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, and maple syrup. I think there's something else I'm missing, maybe some kind of spice(?) but I'm not sure.

Taste - Tastes mainly of chocolate and vanilla, with a hint of brown sugar and maple.

Feel - Went down fairly nice with a bit of sweetness and 'only' 11%ABV.

Overall - Overall I rather enjoy this stout.

Drank from a 1 pint .9 fl. oz. / 500 ml bottle purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Served in a tulip

Somewhat strange appearance. The liquid poured a murky brown hue and thinner than anticipated. A small film of khaki colored froth topped the body, but it quickly broke apart. In the glass, the beer looked shimmery and slick, like motor oil.

The aroma was impressive. Sugary and sweet. Very confection like. Maple cream notes dominated. Loads of caramel and brown sugar too. Vanilla also came through strong. Chocolate fudge was apparent as well. I thought I picked up some banana too, even though this beer contained none. Bananas foster perhaps. Touch of booziness. As the beer sat, the banana intensified.

The flavor profile was also terrific. Again, very sweet and confection like. The banana presence was even more apparent here. Loads of sweet caramel malts and brown sugar. Vanilla was quite apparent as well. Maple cream was also noticeable. Boozy notes came forth as the beer moved along the palate. More lingering sweetness and booze on the back end and the finish.

Solid mouthfeel. Oily and slick. Medium bodied for the style but somewhat thinner than I anticipated. The liquid contained a fine, subdued effervescence.

I usually have a pretty high tolerance for intensely sweet pastry stouts, but this one even pushed my limit. The saving grace for the beer however was that both the flavor and aroma were really punchy and complex. With a bit more balance and restraint, this could be fantastic.
