This Fruited Sour was brewed in collaboration with Pure Project. It blends dragon fruit, mango, and raspberry, together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations.

Ugly beer, like all these fruit smoothies. Aroma is straight fruit smoothie and quite delicious. Taste follows the nose - straight fruit smoothie. I certainly get the mango, raspberry and dragon fruit. It also has an underlying sweetness - almost like marshmallow or vanilla. Feel is thick and smooth. Moderate carbonation. Overall its a well crafted, delicious fruited smoothie beer. Mortalis is at the top of crafting these beers.

Drank from a 1 pint/16 fl.oz. can purchased at Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors, Watertown, MA
Served in a tulip
The beer poured an insanely thick, gloppy and completely opaque, deep mauve color that was reminiscent of guava nectar. Unlike most Mortalis fruited sours, there was barely a head and zero lacing. As the liquid receded, a wall of very fine sediment coated the glass.
The aroma was outstanding. Ripe, juicy mango notes came through strong. There was tangy and sweet, bright tropical fruit quality that was quite reminiscent of passionfruit. Perhaps this could have been the dragon fruit. Guava was noticeable as well. Hint of raspberry and a subtle fruity or hoppy-like dankness. Overall, really punchy and complex.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose and impressive, thought not to the degree as the nose. Big tropical fruit presence up front. Ripe, juicy mango notes came through strong. A tangy and sweet, passionfruit-like quality was present here as well. Raspberry appeared in the center and intensified on the back end and in the finish. Nice lingering, sweet-tart quality after the swallow.
The mouthfeel was really rich and intense. Thick, gloppy and full bodied, like fruit nectar. The liquid contained a fine, somewhat spritzy effervescence that gave the beer a surprising lightness on the palate.
This was another terrific fruited sour by Mortalis. Although I usually find dragon fruit to be lacking in flavor, it seemed to contribute some fantastic passionfruit-like notes to this beer. I would gladly drink this again, especially when the warmer weather months arrive.
