This fruit smoothie sour was brewed in collaboration with Two Tides Brewing. It blends pineapple, strawberry, mango, marshmallow and all 3 flavors of sorbet powder together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations.

16oz can from Tavour. Mauve pour with light pink foamy head, sticky lacing. Strawberry first in the aroma, light pineapple. Berries still strong in the taste, followed by vanilla, a touch of zesty pineapple. Not getting much mango. Creamy, thick, delicious.

This beer is absurdly sugary. It’s not even drinkable. I got through about two ounces of it and had to stop. I let someone else try it too and they said it’s like drinking corn syrup. Even the fruit taste is so artificial. This is just bad.

Im not sure why but the foam was filled with huge bubbles and just generally looked like an orange off putting loogie. Outside of that though taste is on par with description and a great feel.

A 1 pint can, with an unclear smudged date. Poured into the only glass available to me at the hotel.
Appearance: A thick carrot orange with a layer of milkshake like bubbles/head, and no lacing.
Aroma: Fruity, fruit punch, pineapple, strawberry, vanilla, marshmallow.
Taste: Lightly sweet, fruit punch, pineapple, strawberry, mango, orange, vanilla, and marshmallow.
Mouthfeel: Thick medium to full bodied, with soft carbonation.
Overall: The flavour stands out as an enjoyable fruit punch smoothie that is easy to drink.

poured from a 16oz can into a willi becher pint glass. pours like V8 with a similar colored, oddly-bubbled foam that never really goes away. fruit juice purée on the nose. taste has more marshmallow to back up the fruit juices. wonderfully thick mouthfeel. this really doesn’t look like much (do these fruited kettle sours ever though?) but i’ll be damned if this doesn’t taste wonderful. easy to drink for 7%. nothing like beer but damn it’s fun.

Drank from a 1 pint/16 fl.oz. can purchased at Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors, Watertown, MA
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a thick and gloppy, deep orange hue that was reminiscent of mango nectar. A two-finger tall, reverse cascading crown topped the body and quickly transformed into a mass of big, sticky looking bubbles that got larger with time. As the liquid receded, a blanket of fine sediment coated the glass.
The nose was fantastic. Super punchy and sweet. Tropical fruits dominated. Pineapple was most apparent. Mango was quite noticeable as well. There was a citrusy quality too that reminded me of tangerine. Strawberry was also detectable.
The flavor profile was similar to the aroma but perhaps even sweeter. Uber tropical fruit forward. Pineapple again was most prominent, followed closely by mango. Tart and tangy citrus notes appeared in the center. Bit of vanilla too. Strawberry was noticeable on the back end. More lingering, sweet-tart tropical fruit notes and a hint of acidity on the finish.
Excellent rich, gloppy, full bodied mouthfeel. Slippery and slick on the palate, like fruit nectar. The liquid contained a fine, mellow effervescence that worked nicely for the style.
Mortalis’s fruited sours often contain so many adjuncts that some of them wind up being lost on me, but that was not the case with Hydra Fluff Motif. This is a fantastic beer and one that I would happily revisit in the warmer weather months ahead.
