This Imperial Stout is a collaboration with Mama Lor’s Cafe. This batch has been aged in a Peach Brandy Barrel and then conditioned on almond cookies. The smooth brandy blends with the almonds to provide layers of Funfetti, cookie dough, and peach rings.

Upon pouring the beer, the viscosity and texture are immediately noticeable. As the body of the beer settles, a small brown head of foam forms and quickly settles back into the darkness.

Aromatics from the glass were immediately reminiscent of Peach Cobbler; clear notes of vanilla, shorbread cookies, and caramelized peaches. The addition of Mama Lor's almond cookies bring additional aromas of rich mascarpone frosting.

The palate is hit with peach ring candy flavors, however it settles quickly into a more complex profile. A few minutes in the glass really allows the barrel profile to shine, adding hints of charred oak, burnt caramel, peach whiskey, and a mild nuttiness.

As the finish trails with flavors of dark chocolate, that excellent soft and viscous mouthfeel is complimented with expert precision. Without feeling overly thick of syrupy, Leto coasts the palate and finishes with a boozy warmth on a long finish.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like almond cream, dark fruit, milk chocolate, oak, peach preserves, and vanilla.

This might not quite be up to the absurdly lofty heights of batch one of Pear Brandy Leto, but this is still wonderful. These stouts are some of the most unique barrel aged stouts you’ll find out there – with the fruity brandy and the almond dessert flavors just melding so well together. I get jammy and concentrated peach and oak, but I also get a sort of golden cherry flavor, too, maybe like Rainier cherries, or something? I also get earthy vanilla frosting, rich milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and molasses.

This is medium bodied, super silky and velvety, with basically no booziness.

This is so unique, decadent, and elegant – elegant not usually being a weird used to describe pastry stouts.

Had at a line crawl bottle share. Killer. This needs to be released. 2023 VIP Luau Party?

2024: Had another small pour at the Mortalis 6th anniversary party courtesy of the guy and his new wife from just outside Philadelphia that drive 4.5 hours for the Double Barrel Pear Brandy Leto. Delicious peach presence. Almond cookies smell fresh from the oven.
