This fruited sour is part of our Gemini Series that focuses on small one-off batches. The duality of complementary and sometime contrasting fruits are blended with other adjuncts to enrich the flavors even further. This version features strawberry, tangerine, and waffle cones.

Man, I haven’t had a Mortalis beer outside of the 2 virtual Extreme Beer Fests that happened over covid. I hadn’t really given them much thought since, but when I saw this one on Tavour I was very intrigued by the inclusion of waffle cone in this one. So naturally I had to pick it up (as well as some of their other beers). Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours an opaque pinkish orange with a finger of orange white head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves decent lacing. Odd, I expected this to be smoothie-style
The nose here is genuinely awesome, like a tart mixed fruit sorbet. I’m picking up on aromas of strawberry sorbet, lemonade, sour tangerine Altoids, sweet vanilla, underripe mango, pineapple juice, and a touch of waffle cone
In taste it trends a bit sweeter than I’d like given the awesome tartness in the aroma, but this is still damn good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart tangerine, orange juice, mango sorbet, sweet vanilla, juicy strawberry, and doughy malt. The swallow brings notes of orange juice, tangerine candy, strawberry sorbet, lemon juice, waffle cone, caramel, underripe mango, and sweet vanilla
A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes neutral but the tartness dries it out over time
This one is awesome, probably one of the best Kettle Sours I’ve had. It gets extra points for the overall. I need more
