It pours black at first with a generous khaki. Theres chunkies in the bottom, presumambly smushed Twinkies, that ends up making a murky brown look that's fairly unattractive. The head falls to a nice cap and the liquid drapes the glass.
I can't say I specifically smell the Twinkie, but vanilla and stout notes come through. Lots of the dark fruit, roasted malt, a tad bit of coffee and chocolate. It's a little boozy as well. Nice enough.
The taste leads with vanilla, some sweetness, and a combination of dark sweet cherry, coffee, chocolate, tobacco. I wouldn't pick out Twinkie, but it has some sort of cake-like flavor. It's OK.
The feels is thick and sticky, but not cloying. Very little bitterness, but I am getting a slight metallic tang. Carbonation is fairly tingly as well. Pleasantly warming.
Well...kind of a Woody Harrelson Zombieland moment...where's the f****n' Twinkies??? The stout part is really good. The vanilla is really good. The pastry is a bit of a miss, but that's fine with me. It's right on the edge of being syrupy sweet, so if there was "more" it would be too much. It's good, but for the price it needs to be great.
