I think this is my first Mortalis beer that doesn’t fall under one of their many series, just a random one off collaboration with Juicy, Imprint, and The Answer. The fruit treatment here is very standard stuff, but using lemon cookies is an interesting choice. I’m sure it will be quite good and add a nice sweetness. Let’s dig in
Pours an opaque reddish purple with a finger of pinkish purple head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is actually sweeter than expected but it’s still nicely balanced. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy blackberry, lemon juice, shortbread cookie, tart raspberry, blueberry syrup, and light vanilla
In taste it’s simultaneously more tart and has a more defined sweetness, everything just turned up to 11. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon juice, honey, jammy blackberry, shortbread cookie, tart raspberry, vanilla, and light orange juice. The swallow brings notes of lemon juice, juicy strawberry, shortbread cookie, tart raspberry, graham cracker, light blackberry, and vanilla
A medium full body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a rich yet sharp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a balanced tartness
Damn, this one is really good. I think I’ll always be a sucker for these when it’s lemon and some kind of berry, but the cookies add a new twist that is much appreciated
