This Imperial Stout was brewed in collaboration with WeldWerks Brewing Co. After aging the base for 16 months in Sazerac Rye and Jim Beam Double oak barrels, the blend was then conditioned on Toasted Coconut and Almonds. The dark viscous liquid dessert gives us vibes of chocolate almond coconut cake.

Niflheim is jet black, prohibiting all light. It has a brief, very dark golden brown head that is light and crackles loudly. While no lace is left, tons of thick, voluptuous legs seem to hang forever on the walls of an Aromatic Pretentious Glass Company snifter.
The aroma opens with toasted coconut and Marzipan. Dark chocolate quickly enters, almost completely obscuring the roasted malt. Bourbon is distant, yet builds with warmth.
Chocolate takes preeminence in the flavor, with a strong dose of toasted coconut followed by Marzipan. As is common for Mortalis' Stouts, it is very sweet, however, bitterness does find a place. As it warms, the chocolate and coconut maintain center stage, while allowing Bourbon to faintly show up. The finish is strong and fades quickly, progressing from chocolate to coconut and introduces cappuccino.
The body is extremely dense and coats the palate with a chewy, syrupy texture. Carbonation has a light prickle. Alcohol is strong, yet far, far below expectations.
This is a fun pastry stout that I found enjoyable on a cold and dark winter evening.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells super strongly of toasted and sweet coconut, with a touch of almond nuttiness, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, bourbon, and caramel.
This is definitely sweet and decadent, and extremely thick, but it’s honestly less sweet and thick than both Mortalis and especially Weldwerks has been known for lately. There’s some great barrel character here, caramel and oaky spice, a touch of honey like bourbon. But it’s mostly a coconut runaway train here, with some almond nuttiness deftly playing against the heavy coconut sweetness.
This is very thick, but not syrupy, like most Medianoches lately, luckily.
I initially had very little interest in this one when it came out, but some positive reviews from palates that I tend to trust made me change my mind and seek this one out. I’m glad I did!
