This fruited smoothie sour is part of our Gemini Series that focuses on small one-off batches. The duality of complementary and sometime contrasting fruits is blended with other adjuncts to enrich the flavors even further.

Nice strawberry and watermelon Jolly Rancher aroma and flavor with nice tropical fruit/passionfruit notes. Nice fruit/tart balance. Medium bodied fruit smoothie.

No date on can but a week from the distributor, into a Troegs pint glass.
Pours a thick maroon, very little foam and no light passes through it. Aroma is sour, very sweet, almost candy like. Flavor follows the nose, with the strawberries coming off very jammy, and the watermelon candy very present. It's sweet and sugary but not syrupy, which is crazy. I have no idea what curuba is supposed to taste like, but there's an intangible creamy sourness behind the jam and candy flavors. The fruits filter through each other as well as some malts and a very slight bitterness on the finish, and it ends up not being sickly sweet. Mouthfeel is crazy, this is the signature Mortalis thickness. Body is high due to the 7% ABV, but it works well with the massive amount of fruits and sugar. Finish is very sticky and sweet, and it's not refreshing at all due to the sugars, but this is more a treat than a beverage.
Overall, this one works well. The candy and jam ideas blend surprisingly well, and the Gemini base shines just like my previous experience with the Mortalis Hydra series. It's less aggressive and smoother, but I do think I prefer the Hydra. Still, as someone who can't stand most kettle sours, this one is so thick and fresh tasting that I really like it.
