This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like chocolate covered fireball candies, with some sweet breadiness, rye spice, and oak.
Thanatos has always been one of their more unique stouts – I don’t always like cinnamon in beers, but the use of cinnamon coffee cakes works better for me, giving a more doughy sweetness, with milk chocolate, cinnamon candies, a touch of vanilla and caramel, and a light oaky spiciness. I wish there a little bit more barrel overall, but it’s still pretty tasty.
This is medium bodied, creamy, and not quite syrupy, with no real booziness to it.
This is pretty heavy, and good in smaller doses, but still enjoyable.

Liquid coffee cake all day. It’s about as dessert as dessert stouts can get.

Picked up a bottle at release party 12/30/2023. Look and nose were good. Really liked the taste… rich, malty, some old ale/dark fruit, rye, wood, vanilla, sweet…Happy that the cinnamon is more reserved than original Thanatos. Nice complement ; not dominant. Unhappy that body is too heavy/ slightly syrupy. Normally don’t have problem with Mortalis’ denser Imp Stouts, but this seemed over the top. Surprised that barreling almost 2 years didn’t thin this out a bit.
