Bottle from Mortalis Avon/FLX. Poured at 50 degrees. Producing thick if brief tan head; some residual lacing and thin halo. Clearly a SOP Mortalis Imp Stout. Big, full bodied and smooth. Considering use of two sweet adjuncts I was pleasantly surprised to find that the flavor of both the caramel and the butterscotch shined and not really that much sweetness; nothing cloying or syrupy. Coffee evident but in a medium flavorful contribution… not bold and not bitter. Very enjoyable flavor. Nose subdued at first but really showed up as beer warmed. Thick, smooth. Surprisingly quite carbonated but very soft/ slightly bright on the tongue.
Overall an excellent addition to the Mortalis collection for those that enjoy big chewy imp stouts with masterful use of adjuncts by carefully enhancing base flavors vs changing or dominating the base.
