This Imperial stout was brewed exclusively for the Rochester Whiskey Enthusiasts. The adjunct free base was aged for 18 in a small format Kings County Distillery whiskey barrel. Intense flavors of anise, bakers chocolate, and vanilla are carried by the rich thick body. Show Less

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like tobacco, dark chocolate, raisin, vanilla, caramel, and licorice.
This one of the least sweet Mortalis stouts I’ve had in a while now, but it’s still got some sweetness to it. There’s some tobacco, lots of caramel, some vanilla-ish oak barrel, and lots of chocolate. There’s lesser tones of licorice and dark fruit, too, raisin, black cherry, something like that.
This is medium bodied, not as thick as some of their other stouts, but pleasantly creamy and chewy, with very little booziness.
I really love Mortalis’ straight up no adjunct barrel aged stouts, and I wish they did more of them.

Had cold at the Mortalis 6th anniversary party. Dark. Thick. Boozy. Carries an interesting smokiness, but not like a rauschbier. Thanks to Scott from New Jersey for buying this one.
