This Gluten Free Fruited Sour is focused on the lighter side of fruit & flavor. This version blends strawberry, grape, and peanut butter to create a lower ABV, lighter-bodied, and easier-drinking version of our beloved Hydra Smoothies.

Purply pour topped with a thin pink head. The aroma blends strawberry, grape, and a distinct peanut‑butter note. The flavor follows closely: sweet and fruity upfront, with a moderate tartness that keeps it from tipping over completely. Not bad overall, though it does lean a bit too sweet.

Eleven month old can, still good. Very staid appearance - looks like somebody mixed grape jello powder. PB&J scented. Mildly flavorful with plenty of grape and strawberry, and then the peanut butter sneaks in. I like peanut butter as an adjunct in a fruited beer where it has an opposing flavor to work with/against. Mild/light body, bit of a fruit punch element to it. Tasty.

Drank from a 1 pint/16 fl. oz. can purchased on Tavour
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a medium bodied, deep purple hue. Even with a fairly aggressive pour, there was no head nor any lacing. A smattering of large, flat, round chunks sat atop the body. As the liquid receded, a wall of fine particles stuck along the glass.
The aroma was pretty wild and lived up to the beer’s description. Peanut butter came through big time. There was a nice sweet, fruity quality as well that seemed to be halfway between grape and either raspberry or strawberry. The fruity notes were really juicy and jammy. Overall, fairly straightforward but super intense and really enjoyable.
The flavor profile was very similar to the nose. Super jammy and sweet grape and strawberry notes led things off. Concord grape definitely came to mind. There was a nice zippy, lemony tartness in the center. The peanut butter appeared here as well and crescendoed on the back end and the finish. More sweet-tart grape and strawberry notes and lingering peanut butter after the swallow.
The mouthfeel was definitely thinner in body than a typical Mortalis fruited sour. Medium bodied perhaps. A touch nondescript. The liquid contained a super fine, mild effervescence.
This “Demihydra” beer was exactly what it set out to be - a liquified version of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but in a somewhat lighter, easier drinking form (as opposed to a thicker, smoothie-like, Hydra series beer). Mortalis do this style of beer better than anyone else, and this particular one was another banger.
