Batch 1 (Sky Blue Wax)
This Imperial stout was brewed with a complex grain bill and extended boil time. After aging in both Willet Rye and Old Fitzgerald Bourbon barrels for 13 months, we then conditioned the beer on Madagascar vanilla beans before packaging. A silky oily body meets dark fruit, brownies, and creamy vanilla.
Batch #2 (Metallic Red Wax)
This Imperial stout was brewed with a complex grain bill and extended boil time. After aging in both Willet Rye and Willet Family Estate barrels for 30 months, we then conditioned the beer on Madagascar vanilla beans before packaging. A silky oily body meets dark fruit, brownies, and creamy vanilla.

B2 - Metallic Red Wax
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like milk chocolate, roasted malt, spicy oak, leather, dark chocolate, coffee, and sweet vanilla.
Regular old Ophion is absolutely delicious, and luckily this vanilla variant doesn’t completely overwhelm the delicious aspects of it. There’s a nice spicy and herbal barrel character – oaky, caramelly, with some nice heat to it. The base is super fudgy and dense, with coffee and caramel notes.
This is thick, but not syrupy, with just a hint of pleasantly warming boozy heat. It’s solidly drinkable for the style.
This doesn’t necessarily improve on Ophion, but it’s a wonderful addition to the Mortalis barrel aged canon.
