Brewed with our friends at Magic Bear, we took a different approach to our beloved Icarus. This Stout does not match its appearance. It is a full-bodied Golden Stout aged on vanilla, walnuts, white chocolate, and cold-steeped with coffee. Still just as good as the milk at the bottom of the bowl. DO NOT DRINK TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN!

On tap at Mortalis Brewing in Buffalo, NY.
This one pours a ruddy amber-ish color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like caramel, maple, white chocolate, walnut, sweet coffee, and vanilla.
I don’t think this is necessarily an improvement on Icarus, a pretty memorable beer, but it was cool to try in a small pour. The white chocolate and walnut were interesting but added too much sweetness to an already sweet beer.
This is thick, slightly syrupy, and not all too boozy.
I imagine a certain segment of stout fans will dig this, but it was a little bit too sweet for me. It was cool to try, and I enjoyed it, but it’s hard to drink too much of it.
