This Double IPA is part of our exploration series. Too often, we become complacent and forget to push the boundaries and search the unending hop combinations for a stroke of genius. It's time to get back to class! This version features McKenzie, Simcoe, and Citra hops.

Received a care package from the generous @jzeilinger on 10-16-25. Canned 7-8-25; consumed on 12-4-25. Cold stored since receiving.
Beer poured chilled golden orange with a nice head with the original pour.
Nose initially was pungent but faded after initial sips. Getting notes of citrus and stone fruits.
Taste is a good-sized pale malt base in which the hopping gives me peach and orange. Finishes with a solid pine and rind bitterness; 8/10 on my scale. Border on hop-yeast burn but did not cross that line.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied to large bodied and very smooth in the old school fashion.
Overall dig the bitterness and flavor!

A - Dark orange gold pour with dense, thin lacing.
S - Peach and apricot.
T - Yep, follows the nose with peach and apricot dominating the palate along with some spiciness and ends on the spicy sweeter side.
M - Thick, soft, and chewy.
O - This is pretty solid!

Opaque with a milky straw haze. A two-plus inch head is creamy with a light pastel-yellow tint. Thick rings of lace leave chunky patches marking each sip. Eventually, the head forms a thick blanket.
The IIPA glass promotes the strong pine and grapefruit pith. Fresh cut onion grass and tar pitch lead to sulfur as it warms. Extended warmth produces a burnt rubber aroma.
The very high bitterness is tempered by malt flavors. Grapefruit adds a mild acidity. Pine is strong, yet less than suggested by the aroma. The finish is surprisingly mild as it lingers, producing garlic and chives. Warmth amplifies the garlic and chives.
This one is smooth with a velvety texture and full body. Both the alcohol and carbonation are notably less than I had expected.
Given the style, Strange Philosophies 115 is surprisingly approachable. I enjoyed it during a mildly hot mid-summer afternoon.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy, murky yellow pour, long lasting creamy head. Aroma brings a ton of citrus zest, tangy, grapefruit and some tangerine. Fank notes come out of nowhere in the taste, zesty, herbaceous. Fairly thick feel. Finishes rather quickly.
