This Imperial Stout starts with a thick chocolate base. After aging 18 months in a 1792 Bourbon barrels, we conditioned the beer on loads of marshmallow, vanilla, hazelnuts, and toasted coconut.

A rare Mortalis barrel aged stout miss for me. It was fine. The aroma was subdued, the
flavor was ok, the mouthfeel was heavy. I’m tired of the near constant use of marshmallow by them lately. It’s such a cheap adjunct, artificial, and not appreciated when I’m popping $32/500 ml. I know it helps the mouthfeel, but I’d rather something less thick with a real vanilla adjunct as opposed to marshmallow. I evidently was so miffed, I didn’t even buy bottles to go.
