Had this in June 2019, I presume at Funk Factory.

Pours a standard pilsner yellow with 1/2" white head and good retention. Looks good. Firm lager yeast present in the nose, and a cool tandem of Hallertau Blanc and Mandarin hops. Good mix of white grape, orange and lager yeast in the nose.

Much the same comes out in the taste, add a respectable dose of pilsner malt and this brings you the traditional look, yeast and malting of old school pilsner, but matched with a unique hop combo. I'm confident this is the first lager I've had with these two hops. Good crisp body. I liked it, or I dunno if I was thinking about Booker T at the time, but my notes finish with "I can dig it, sucka". Main takeaway is that the didn't just go the unique route many times over (pilsner, the hops) but they actually made something both unique and enjoyable. Some breweries seem to just fine the most obscure shit and the end result is "no thank you" but this checks all the good boxes, would recommend.

Tasted in a tall tulip from draft at 1840 Brewing Company on May 18, 2019. Brewed in collaboration with 1840 Brewing Company. Double dry-hopped lager bursting with notes of Manadarin oranges and white grapes from a hefty amount of Hallertau Blanc and Mandarina Bavaria hops. German Pilsner and Carahell malts work with Augustine lager yeast to provide a grainy and complex malt base.
