12oz can. Date stamp on bottom lip is '09.05.24'.
Cloudy, deep gold colored body. Foam erupts when can is opened, and it takes several pours to get in the glass because of the hefty rising foam. Off white head, and this retreats to a thin cap and higher clinging ring. Leaves behind a few scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma is first with the chile peppers (NM Hatch) and then general toasted malts. Hops seem hidden.
Taste continues with the early arrival of the Hatch chiles, along with the sweet toasted malts. Hop expression is herbal and floral, but minor. Chile and malts blend in the extended aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Smooth and wet. The chiles have moderate heat, with a little tongue sting but no burn or pain. Overcharged carbonation (probably because of the fermentation of the chiles in the can).
The chiles are clear and present throughout but not excessive, with a balancing malt sweetness.
