Clear amber with plenty of white foam in the snifter. This is described as a Helles Lager brewed with Hüll Melon hops. It starts with some sweet malt and then a sharp, bitter edge. I don't think this is the best use of these hops-- maybe they'd be good in a Pilsener. It's kind of a green and unripe flavor with a surprising bitterness.
Overall this is more like a malty Blonde Ale with a dose of bitterness. Still, it's quite drinkable and maybe an improvement on the classic German style. From the 16 oz can purchased at Whole Foods in Oakland.
