Moss Mill Brewing Co. "New Standard"
$6.50/pint at the brewery on 14 April 2018
Notes: American stout at 5.2% ABV. It's got a clear, dark mahogany brown/black body beneath a short head of light tan. Chocolate comes through clearly in the aroma with some light roastiness and nuttiness. The flavor follows and it's very well balanced with each of those components coming through clearly but then also acting as one. A median bitterness balances it and leads you to a dry finish with the chocolate and roastiness lingering. What hops are there are only supporting, and although it's listed as an American stout it's really quite English in style. It's medium bodied with a moderate carbonation that leaves it quite smooth and easy to drink. One of their better beers, and certainly worth trying.
