Buzzsaw is a Porter brewed with Coffee, Chocolate, and Hazelnut. It is brewed in collaboration with our dear friends at the The Sawhorse and Buzzsaw Coffee. Expect high aromatics of rich coffee complemented with dark chocolate and sweet hazelnut. This is rich and roasty.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Dark, dark pour.. nearly black with big mocha colored head. Nice ring of lacing.
S: Coffee and roast... a bit of cocoa and hazelnut. Pretty standard porter.
T.F: Muted flavor... the roast comes through with a bit of coffee. Not much in the way of grains/chocolate... the hazelnut is almost completely lacking in the flavor. Dry... medium to light bodied with effervescent carbonation. Needs a lot more 'oomph'.
O: Smelled good... but lacking in flavor. Not one of New Trail's best.

CANd now, CANtinuing the last phase of Happy CANtinuing New New Trail & Feeling Light-Hearted About Happoshu Beer Sunday (Week 784), ironically mentioned first! These will all be CANs for the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm) so it should be interesting.
From the CAN: "Porter Brewed with Coffee, Chocolate & Hazelnut"; "Keep Cold[,] Drink Fresh"; "Brewed In Collaboration with The Sawhorse Café [&] Buzzsaw Coffee".
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was pleasantly surprised (although I probably should not have been) as it evinced a pseudo-cascade that eventually settled into two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with excellent retention. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44), allowing garnet highlights to be seen at the edges. Nose was rich, redolent with coffee, chocolate & hazelnut! Man, this would not be my cuppa coffee, but in an AmeriCAN Porter, it is kind of an anything goes style where this totally fits. Mouthfeel was big, full & creamy & had I not known otherwise, I would have sworn that this was an N2 serving! 8=O The taste was muted as CANpared to the nose, which is a real head-scratcher. None of the adjuncts would have been used simply as aromatics & yet that is how they came off. The chocolate was the most prevalent flavor with coffee a close seCANd and the hazelnut barely registering. The fact that the hazelnut was so light is CANother head-scratcher since its potent flavor generally tends to overwhelm everything in its path, which is why I eschew it in my coffee. Finish was semi-dry with a light, lingering bitterness. I was pretty disappointed in this one. It smelled great but tasted muted or watered-down. 8=( YMMV.

Can dated 03/18/19 into pint glass. Pours a dark brown with a brief tan head. Initial impression is thin coffee and (hazel?) nut. Mouthfeel is too thin, even for a porter. Carbonation is light. Finish is subdued and underwhelming. Overall, not one I'd revisit.

Porter with chocolate, coffee & hazelnut. Only the coffee ever expresses itself, and it is more of the Folgers / greasy spoon variety than something rich or layered. A little thin on the body
