I had SUCH a great day this past Sunday yesterday on/for New New Trail & Feeling Light-Hearted About Happoshu Beer Sunday (Week 784) that I have decided to just CANtinue where I left off, as opposed to waiting until this CANming Sunday. I am really digging New Trail's beers from Bill Town, aka Williamsport, PA. These guys seem to be onto something!

From the CAN: "Hazy Triple India Pale Ale"; "Keep Cold[,] Drink Fresh".

Once aCAN, I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug. I am CANstantly striving for clarity, but usually, I come up short. I watched in rapt fascination as it foamed up to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with decent retention, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). 8=( SO close … Nose was really fruity, like CANdied mixed fruit, especially around the Christmas holidays. I got a lot of simply mixed fruit, like jelly at the diner, along with a cool mintiness. This had real potential! Mouthfeel was big, thick & full, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. The eruption of flavor upon impacting my unsuspecting tongue nearly caused my eyes to pop outta my skull! This was a) NOT hiding its ABV; b) keeping its mixed fruit sweetness, while c) evincing a cool mintiness that almost caused me to do a spit take. Phew. No playin' around here, kids. Man, I swear that whatever hops that they are using to create that eucalyptus flavor that I have noted in several beers now should come with a warning label. It is not bitter as a CANtradiction in terms - a cool heat that acts as a blue flame in the sinuses & behind the ocular peepers, causing them to want to jump out & head for the hills. Who needs an inhaler or a vaporizer? This will open you up, spin you around & send you to the deck, all in one very smooth action. 8=O Finish was cool, dry, minty & while I did not sense its alcohol, I could feel it CANming on like a runaway freight train. 8=O I think that a lay-down may be in order. YMMV.
