Hill Climb is a Hazy Double IPA brewed with a mixture of Red Wheat and Oats. Hopped ascendingly with Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, Chinook, & Azacca. Expect notes of fleshy citrus, fresh pink bubblegum, & balanced with rich earthy notes. Be safe as you make the climb.

Last night, I had begun getting into Lagers as part of The CANQuest (tm)'s eradication of the backlog. I had just finished one from New Trail in Bill Town (Williamsport, PA) & was ascending the staircase to my "photography studio" when I came upon a lone, non-Lager from New Trail & since I have already done a brewery horizontal with them, I figure just to knock this one out & return to my Lager program, already in progress.
From the CAN: "Hazy Double IPA India Pale Ale".
The Crack!ing open of the vent gave me a little spritz across the fingertips, revealing a brimful craft CAN & giving pause for CANsideration. They had already copped to it being "hazy" on the label, so why even attempt clarity? I decided to go with a steady, forceful C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass to speed the day's plow. It all seemed to work to perfection as I got two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with excellent retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was both tropical and minty - think mango, papaya, pine & pineapple. Mmm. I think that I also caught a whiff of naughty little Simcoe the kitten doing her catty business in there. 8=O Mouthfeel was medium but very slick & creamy in the mouth & on the tongue. There were a LOT of fruit flavors to parse in this one - mango, pineapple, papaya, grapefruit, honeydew, blueberry as well as the aforementioned pine/eucalyptus cool mintiness. Phew. Man, this was my wet dream as a self-avowed, self-described hophead! The ABV makes it tough to indulge too much, but it really scratched an itch, calmed the monkey on my back & quieted my jones for the time being. Finish was dry, but not gaspingly so. Like I said, I could go for this on a routine basis. YMMV.

16 oz can poured into a weizen glass.
Beer review #2000
Appearance
Hazed-out cloudy, blonde. Short white head.
Nose
Honeydew, blueberry, dank, mango, and milk sugar.
Taste
Pineapple, blueberry, guava, and honeydew melon. Plenty dank and slightly earthy. Milky sweetness with a silky consistency. Pine sap and grapefruit zest lingers.
Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, silky, smooth, and juicy with hardly any bitterness.
Overall
New Trail rarely disappoints. Drink good beer.
