Day Pack is a Hazy Crushable IPA brewed with heavy doses of Wheat. Leisurely hopped with Sabro, Amarillo, & Centennial. Expect notes of fleshy tropical fruits balanced with citrus and earthy notes. Pack it in, pack it out.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 126 oz. can. Has a bright golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus, tropical fruits. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, juicy. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

I have been relegated to drinking just one (1) beer a day due to my current USPS job, which requires that I work 6 days/week, 10.5 hours/day. I CAN do it & have adjusted nicely (sort of), but I find that it is usually one upon returning home & then off to bed to reChArNge for the next night. Yes, I am working the night shift, but I actually enjoy it! I CAN run a couple/few errands during the day, if I am so motivated & inclined + I really like many of my fellow night shifters where the day people are less so.

I was recently staring into the abysss, I mean, watching a little TV, when I happened to realize that I had a subsCANtial amount of New Trail CANs in abeyance & decided to revisit them for yet CANother brewery horizontal. This shall be the thirteenth of this newest set.

From the CAN: "Day Pack Hazy Crushable IPA India Pale Ale"; "Keep Cold[,] Drink Fresh".

I figured that, given both the CAN's label's verbiage & the Notes, there was no reason to hold back following the Crack! of the vent. Sure enough, even the beginning Glug was cloudy so I simply CANtinued with a heavy-handed C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled like a blend of morning fruit juices - orange/CANgerine, pineapple & grapefruit + mango & papaya. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was muted as CANpared to the nose, which is my main bugaboo with these sessionable/ crushable IPAs. Making it hazy was a neat twist on the idea, but its execution still resulted with reduced flavors. In fact, it made it difficult to parse the flavors where it was easy from/on the nose. The juiciness resulted in a smoothie-like drink, but I really wanted to drink a beer. Finish was semi-dry and refreshing, but I felt unfulfilled. YMMV.

Poured into narrow pint glass: color is straw, opaque presence, brighter white head with fine bubbles, head presents 1 inch thick and then dissipates to thin top, some lacing on the glass.

Smell is fleshy tropical fruits, pineapple dominant, lighter stone fruit and mango, hint of grapefruit pith, low malt.

Taste is dominated by strong pineapple, lighter herbal notes and pithy fruits, maybe some grapefruit, lower malt flavor with just a hint of biscuit.

Mouthfeel is pretty smooth with low carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.

Overall a hazy that is softer than man of the others from NT in presence, but has dominant pineapple/tropical fruit flavor that is not a personal preference.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a hazy medium straw color with a brief off-white head. Initial impression is citrus, tangerine, pine, and a slight spiciness. Mouthfeel is a little harsh for a NEIPA, but the finish is clean and refreshing. Not my favorite from New Trail, but thoroughly enjoyable.
