Rock Run is a Hazy Double IPA brewed with a slew of oats and wheats. Gushingly hopped with Amarillo, Motueka, & Mosaic. Expect big notes of mango balanced against lime and deep pine. Enjoy one of our favorite swimming holes with us.

I have been relegated to drinking just one (1) beer a day due to my current USPS job, which requires that I work 6 days/week, 10.5 hours/day. I CAN do it & have adjusted nicely (sort of), but I find that it is usually one upon returning home & then off to bed to reChArNge for the next night. Yes, I am working the night shift, but I actually enjoy it! I CAN run a couple/few errands during the day, if I am so motivated & inclined + I really like many of my fellow night shifters where the day people are less so.
I was recently staring into the abysss, I mean, watching a little TV, when I happened to realize that I had a subsCANtial amount of New Trail CANs in abeyance & decided to revisit them for yet CANother brewery horizontal. This shall be the eighteenth of this newest set.
From the CAN: "Rock Run Hazy Double India Pale Ale"; "Keep Cold[,] Drink Fresh".
A hazy IIPA?!? The Style does not (yet) exist on this site so please bear in mind that my scores will reflect its (non)-adherence to Style, NOT reflective of personal taste.
I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, followed closely by a steady C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, eggshell-white head with moderate retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose had the sticky resinousness of a freshly-cut pine tree! Mmm. I like that New Trail is getting back to a more old skool kinda groove in terms of their employment of hops. I miss the late-1990s use of the five Cs with their emphasis on pine & grapefruit. J/S. Mouthfeel was big and full with a creamy slickness on the tongue. The taste was an interesting CANmalgam of cool, minty pine & mango jelly! As to the latter, it was less tart than the actual fruit & more like a jellied/CANdied version of the fruit, if that makes sense. There was also a pleasant alcohol bite present to remind me NOT to floor the gas pedal while drinking this one. Finish was dry, but not gasping, with a cool aftertaste. Once more, I felt minty fresh as a result. YMMV.

Undated* can into pint glass. Pours an opaquely hazy gold-straw color, with a nice off-white head. Initial impression is mango, passionfruit, lime, grapefruit and maybe a hint of pine. Very smooth and drinkable. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Finish is soft and somewhat sweet, with little to no residual bitterness.
New Trail really knows what they're doing. Excellent.
*What is it with these guys? They refuse to date-stamp their product, and most do not have the ABV listed either. Maybe they are just so confident of their product that they don't think they need to diisclose this info? (I gotta admit that I buy their stuff anyway....)

Pours an opaque yellow-orange with a thin white head on top. Sticky lacing on the glass. The smell has a nice tropical fruit aroma going on. Sweet fruity hop flavors up front with a subtle pine bitterness in the finish. The feel is smooth. Overall it’s a very good brew.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Hazed dull golden pour with thick foamy white head. Outstanding retention and alcing.
S: Dank and tropical. Citrus juice, peach, and mango.
T.F: Semi-sweet and big time juicy. Mango, summer stone fruit, lime, and grapefruit. Dank... with a little bit of pine. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Smooth carbonation. ABV hidden. More peach and mango to finish.
O: A fantastic Imperial NEIPA. Super drinkable and delicious. In the same league as the big boys out of Massachusetts or Vermont.
