Hazy double IPA brewed with lush oats. Tautly hopped with Simcoe, Talus, Sabro, Chinook, and Crystal. Expect big tropicals complemented by citrus and fresh bags of green. Save this one for after you’ve hit some bullseyes!

Can to snifter.

Look: dark yellow, hazy, medium turbid off white head.

Aroma: tropical fruit, perfume, floral notes.

Taste: pineapple, blueberry raspberry, melon. Passion fruit. Leaves. Hint of a tart finish, but very tasty.

Feel: medium body, creamy and smooth, above average carbonation.

Interesting juicy IPA. Impressed. My first from New Trail.

I recently scored this one at the Friendly Greek Bottle Shop (FGBS) for The CANQuest (tm) & I am CANxious to nock the shaft! I CAN't wait to let fly with this one!

From the CAN: "Longbow Hazy Double IPA India Pale Ale".

I did some in-CAN agitation before Crack!ing open the vent for the start of a heavy-handed aggro C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention. Color was a turbid, murky Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was heavily laden with pine resin and cattiness so I totally buy Chinook and Simcoe! Mouthfeel was medium, but very slick in the mouth & on the tongue. The taste was very cool & minty with a definite pine quality, plus the cattiness as noted on the nose as well as a light grapefruit citrusiness. Its alcohol was dangerously well-hidden & once aCAiN, I was drinking one of their beers MUCH faster than I probably should have been! Whoa. Finish was super-cool, very minty, quite dry & left me with a fresh taste in my mouth like I had just gargled with mouthwash. Phew. YMMV.

Tired of waiting for a return of Goggles, let's see what lays inside a pint can of Lowbow. Of course, at first crack comes the hazy double bouquet of hops, malt and yeast. Some yeast residue is detected spilling from the can into a clear glass liter mug at the end of the pour. There's the typical New Trail hazy look - dense dirty blond with abundant head and glass lacing. Expecting the typical New Trail taste, Longbow shoots short of their best. It's a little too soft and this might have been obtained by reducing the barley malt necessary for a good IPA backbone. There is some hoppiness, but not enough to compensate for a missing robust taste. Still, a substandard New Trail Double Hazy is way above average, overall. There's that yeast residue after draining the mug and there's still some lovely lacing and head.
