There was no pot o' gold inside a pint can, but there was a reddish brown liquid. Poured into a clear glass liter mug, a nice off-white head arrives, along with some nice glass lacing. Although the color is bright and bold, the ale is toward the translucent side. Looking through it is like wearing reddish brown shades. There's a very pleasant malt aroma, too. Not the roasted variety, probably closer to a Scottish Ale. Its taste is a bit drier than that style, but noticeably malty, nonetheless. There's also a mild hoppiness to compliment the malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich, which is a nice surprise because of the dry character. New Trail seems to do Double New England IPAs often and exceptionally well. This is a delightful change.

Dark amber with a finger-and-a-half of foamy, tan head. Decent retention and nice rings of lacing.
Bready aroma with a kiss of malty cherry sweetness.
Delicious bread and caramel strike first in the taste. Then there’s a flash of herbs in the finish that is a little distracting, but thankfully doesn’t last into the aftertaste. Not too sweet.
Medium bodied and creamy for the style, with moderate carbonation. Very smooth.
Just a kiss sweeter (and much creamier) than a dry, bready Marzen. Very easy drinking and satisfying. Exceeded my expectations.

Standard pour yields little to no head, just a faint light khaki lacing... Completely translucent with a cranberry red hue...
Nose is some dark bready malts and light caramel (not much else)... Palate is consistent with the nose... Simple and straightforward with out lots of complexity... Medium bodied... Lightly carbonated... Smooth and quaffable... A very basic and slightly boring beer, but well executed none the less...

Can says “keep cold drink fresh”...I like the simplicity.
16 oz can, no canned-on date.
Pours a clear burnt amber color with a sticky white head. Settles to a 1/8” cap, rings all the way down for those that look for that. Something that typically marks a solid beer in my worthless opinion.
Nose is very mild, a little sweet for the style. Sweet and toasty malt aromas, toffee, and a very subdued hop presence.
Flavor is straight forward. Toasty malt backbone, mild leafy hop bitterness comes on gradually. Mildly bitter finish.
Subtle carbonation with lighter body and mouthfeel that seem true to style, at least compared to the ones that I’ve had previously. Easy drinking brew that falls into the session-able category.
