Poured into a goblet... color is black, solid, light tan head with fine bubbles, presents 1/2 inch thick and dissipates to thin top with a thicker ring along the sides.
Smell is light roast, light chocolate, burnt sugar, booze.
Taste is similar with roast, chocolate, sweet sugar, boozy esters.
Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness, slight alcohol burn.
Overall a hot beer but a dryer stout than 95% of new stouts which is great balance to the over sweetness.

Dark brown — almost root beer colored — with a fat finger of dark khaki head. Decent retention and lacing.
Lots of umami with hints of chocolate and coffee in the nose. Almost a burnt malt impression far beneath.
Chocolate, molasses, umami and light char in the taste. A little kiss of sugary sweetness mid-palate gives way to some very light piney bitterness in the finish.
Full, very creamy feel. Light carbonation.
Nice elements in this. I wish the piney bitterness was kicked up a notch. The sugared coffee sweetness isn’t quite balanced enough.

A finger's worth of slightly late to develop medium khaki colored froth... Modest retention... Color is an opaque inky black (seems appropriate given the name)... Nose is mild overall but highlight by roasted malts and a hint of soy sauce... Flavor is of burnt pizza crust and bitter dark chocolate... Interesting mouthfeel... Dry overall, but light but chewy all at the same time - really unique and memorable... Interesting brew, completely different than any other stout I can recall...

Pours a dark brown to black color with a finger of head. The nose is more nutty than toasty. The flavor is reminiscent of soy sauce mixed with molasses.

A - Pitch black pour with dense caramel creamy lacing.
S - Big roasty goodness on the nose with chocolate, cocoa, and some light smokineness.
T - Chocolate roast, chocolate char, some roasted molasses, delicate smokey char underneath. There's a little bit of acrid presence that I'm guessing is from the molasses?
M - Thick and silky with an almost syrupy mouthfeel.
O - Not sold on the molasses aspect but it's still a solid beer with an interesting personality.
