Hemlock is a Modern West Coast IPA drawing inspiration, malts and clarity from West Coast IPAs, while updating hop varieties and aroma. The addition of various wheats also brings some modern familiarity to the malt bill. Chinook and Centennial hops lend a classic dank and piney profile while Talus brings bold citrus and pineapple to the aroma.

Pours a light amber with an off white head that leaves some nice lace.

Slightly fruity and floral with some nice pine notes and and a slight pine nut malt backbone.

Taste is light pine with apricot and a pine nut malt hit.

Poured into a shaker pint glass: color is gold, mostly transparent, head is off white with fine bubbles, presents less than 1 finger thick, then dissipates to thin top with a ring long the glass and some lacing on glass sides.

Smell is light malt, toasted, light honey note but no caramel, no oats or wheat (aah), hops are subdued but are earthy, herbal, light pine, very light citrus.

Taste is light malt, limited toast, light sweetness (neutral), no oats or wheat (woah), hops are earthy, piney, light dank quality, light citrus pith, herbal notes.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.

Overall - the aroma and feel are bit subdued but the flavor profile is quite pleasant - extra points for a solid take on the non-hazy IPA.

I love what New Trail is doing with this modern west coast series
L: pours a classic west coast copper. 1 finger of head leaves decent lacing
S: big time pine, forest floor, and dank. Bready malt mixed in as well.
T: pine is the dominant flavor with citrus notes and a hint of pineapple. Nice bitter finish
F: medium body and carbonation
O: absolutely loved this beer. Excellent example of the style

Undated (WTF) can into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a brief white head. Not much lacing. Initial impression is pine resin and citrus (grapefruit, orange, pineapple), with a bit of malt sweetness to balance things out. Mouthfeel is clean and refreshing. Finish is citrus fading to dank pine. Overall, a quite enjoyable take on a West Coast IPA.Not my favorite from New Trail, but enjoyable and quite drinkable.

Slight head... Rich copper color... Lots of sluggish carbonation throughout.... Citrusy hop profile with some more subtle piney notes... More dank than expected on the palate as the pine shines through a bit more... Dense and medium bodied... Solid and enjoyable but not my favorite NT offering...
