Poured into an NT stemless glass: color is dark amber, dense looking, tan head that presents 1/4 inch thick, head dissipates to thin top with some lacing.
Smell is sweet, caramely, slight raisin, some oak, light vanilla, more caramel and raisin, aged hops.
Taste is sweet, caramel, sweeter malt, raisin, aged fruit, oak, very light vanilla, vinous qualities, resiny hops, very sweet, solidly bitter.
Mouthfeel is bitter, lower carbonation, very sweet but surprisingly not cloying.
Overall a big beer that lives up to the style and barrel aged notes, though the base beer overrides - big resin, hops, aged fruit, caramel.
