Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Other Half, Pennsylvania Nights stands as a tribute to New Trail's home state, and a very warm welcome to Other Half's recent addition, located in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania Nights is hopped with some of the best Southern Hemisphere hops we've ever worked with - Nelson Sauvin & Nectaron, and rounded out with some favorites from the Pacific Northwest - Citra & Centennial. This Hazy Double IPA is rife with notes of deep citrus, juicy nectarine & fleshy white grape.

Lots to like here as this cozies up to the halcyon days of New Trail DIPAs. A collab with Other Half never hurts, meanwhile this does resemble more of a New Trail hazy than the former. Everything is in fine order with excellent dankness surrounded by heavy Nelson characteristics (white grape, kiwi, etc..) My knock here is body. This beer does not carry the wonderful feel that Other Half DIPAs manifest, it is too thin for a DIPA. That said, the booze is very limited to nonexistent, and it's an otherwise very enjoyable hazy DIPA. Overall, winner

Pours a NT cloudy, aroma is very citrusy, oats, and damn if you do not get a hint of grape. Very heavy hop forward taste, bitterness lingers, mostly earthy. Very nice.

The pour that emptied the entire contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug went well. For a brew devoid of barley malt, there was none of that often present foam, just a modest off-white head. It looks like an oat laden brew, dull dirty blond in color and rather opaque. The aroma is of muted hops and grains, as that's what oats often do, mute things. There's a little alcohol to smell, too. It tastes very good, as the relationship between the starches and the hop combination is excellent. There's more of a sharp hop bite, mostly dry and piney in the West Coast style, than there is any malty counterbalance. The ABV contributes nicely to that bite. This might even bite a little too hard for hazy lovers that like the muting of it in many. Its body is supple enough to carry the hop bite and alcohol, yet clean and fluid. That's something not true of many oated IPAs. Another characteristic of high alcohol oat IPAs, the lack of glass lacing also follows through here. Traditional IPA lovers that like their barley malt should enjoy this one, too.

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is murky gold, head is off white and presents 1 finger thick, head dissipates to solid top with lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is mixed citrus and berry, light grape, some pith, light maltiness.
Taste is similar with a blended citrus/berry/grape, pith finish, light malt and oat fullness, hint of melon and booze.
Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness and slightly full feeling, light bitterness with some lingering drying and burn.
Overall a sweeter/juicier/fuller feeling than expected DHIPA, but some depth of hop flavor balances.

Undated 16oz can into a pint glass.
Looks very good. Pale orange juice body with a decent white head which leaves scattered lacing.
Kind of a citrus dank battle on the nose, no clear winner.
Taste is more dank than citrus.
Mouth just about medium, finish a slightly warming dankness.
Overall, decent enough drink. Dank isn't usually my thing, but enough citrus to balance it out. Could be fuller in the mouth.

Can into pint glass. The can now has a "best by" date on the bottom, which wouldn't be my choice but is better than NO date (which has been New Trail's standard since the beginning of time). It's a step in the right direction anyway.
Pours a murky medium gold with a nice off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is juicy peach, pineapple, citrus, grape, and a touch of pine. Mouthfeel is fairly thick, with a bit of prickly carbonation. Finish fades to a slightly bitter citrus. Overall, this one is definitely up to New Trail's (high) standards.
