2023 Moonlit was aged in Old Forester barrels. The result pours a pitch black with a dark caramel head. Expect beautiful barrel notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted wood, and fleeting hints of campfire on top of Moonlit's dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and fluffy oats.
Barrel Aged Moonlit Aloha adds Coconut, Kona Coffee & Vanilla for notes of Hawaiian nights.

This was pretty enjoyable - I wasn’t sure what to expect being mostly unfamiliar with the brewery. Middleweight with lowish carbonation, inky, smooth, sweet early on but not too excessively so, and a fairly dry finish. Moderately low barrel
Influence, a little whiskey and wood
character, but it’s integrated with the other flavorings here. There’s a vague dissonance between the coconut and the Kona coffee that’s hard to put a finger on, but it’s still a tasty beer. Overall that little clash, and maybe a little lack of heft, are all that’s keeping this from being an upper echelon stout.
Note that is a stovepipe can that’s extremely easy drinking. Probably meant for sharing but I enjoyed in over the course of 90 minutes or so, solo domed.
