Greatly underwhelmed, New Trail is one of my favorite breweries but this one is just not much of anything. Drinkable but where is the hoppiness and haziness there is just nothing here...tear.

6/22/2024, Finally made it to the brewery, anniversary trip.
Fantastic piney and citrusy aromas with a touch of melon.
Soft and full in the mouth. Taste follows aromas. We love that there are great West Coast offerings in the midst of a forest of breweries over producing NEIPAs.

Pours a slightly pale amber with a white head.
Smells of pine, citrus, earthy malt, and a slightly floral hop.
Taste follows nose with a bitey wood note.

It is the first day of summer and spirits are high. Not sure if this beer is a tribute to John C. Fremont, but I think he was an abstainer, so maybe not. Huge tight bubbled head with a translucent golden body. Big pine needle and caramel nose. Biscuit and lemon join the pine and caramel base, along with lupulin and tropical fruits. Some resin in the aftertaste but not overly bitter for an old school IPA.

Poured into a wide mouth grip shaped goblet: color is straw gold and presents with a haze, head is off white with small bubbles and presents one finger thick, then dissipates to spotty top with some lacing.
Smell is sweet pine and citrus, light biscuit.
Taste is more sweet pine and citrus, light malt with some biscuit and light toast.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness for the style.
Overall a solid IPA - still on the sweet side for the substyle, typical from NT, but drinkable and good base flavor.
