Boat Dock is built for the lazy days with your toes in the water, and the days when you actually launch the boat. We start this Hazy Double IPA with a hefty blend of wheats and oats to bring a pillowy mouthfeel and deep haze. A Cascade, Talus, El Dorado, Amarillo, Cashmere and CTZ hop blend brings out notes of pineapple candy, pink grapefruit, and citrus blossoms. Bring this one down to the dock with you.

New Trail just keeps them coming, modern Imperial American Hazy IPAs, based on wheat and oates. Typically, the pour to empty entirely the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug produced plenty of excess foam, enough, albeit at room temperature, the pour was paused. Also typically, the foam receded quickly, unevenly and unattractively, leaving scant and erratic lacing in the glass. Dull, opaque and dark apricot-amber in color, beneath a just-off-white pile of suds, this just isn't a pretty brew. Unfortunately, there's more starch than hops for the nose. The now nearly tiresome reference of juicy is rather accurately applied to the smell. One advantage to having oates in the wort is the smoothness they add to the mouthfeel. Unfortunately, this time, they can't compensate for the alcohol burn that comprises its most outstanding taste character. In fairness, this rings in with a 9.6% ABV. However, there's quite a list that could be compiled of brews in that category that don't burn as much as this and provide more to taste. Of course, it's not malty, nor is it pleasantly hoppy, nor even what would be preferred, overly hoppy. Overall, it brings some superficial sweetness and a slight hop hit, to mitigate the alcohol bite. Few breweries outside of Vermont make as many excellent hazy Imperial IPAs as does New Trail. They're allowed an occasional misstep

On tap at Baltimore Street Grill in Cumberland, MD.

Aroma of tropical and saline. Sour lemon.

Taste of bright citrus, mango, saline. Not overly sweet (a good thing). Finishes with nice bitter ending.

Nice above average NEIPA. I prefer that is not sticky sweet like many are. For us; the right balance of sweet and hop goodness!

Standard haze. Inviting, juicy aroma, slightly floral. Get some intense thiols on the first few sips. Gradually, a candied pineapple and citrus flavor dominates. Big and robust with little apparent alcohol.

Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color is hazy gold, not murky dense but solid, head is off white with fine bubbles.

Smell is peach and stone fruit, light citric pith, hint of oats/wheat/bread, light booze sweetness.

Taste is more citrus pith, with backing stonefruit, light mixed tropical fruits, oat/wheat/bread, hint of booziness but really well hidden.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness but not cloying, low/moderate bitterness - not cloying/sweet and not biting boozy, but a little light on carbonation.

Overall an above standard hazy from NT - lower tropical notes, peach notes, pithy citrus and low sweetness; would like a bit more bitterness and carbonation but maybe that would highlight the strength and detract its drinkability .

Purchased at Giant in Souderton, PA. 16.99/4pk, 16os cans

Pours a very hazy bright orange color with a half-finger, white foamy head. This fades to a skim. Decent sticky lacing left on the sides of the glass.

A subdued aroma but a faint citrusy smell.

A very good DIPA. Flavors of sweet pineapple, grapefruit, mango, lemon and peach with a slightly bitter aftertaste. The ABV is well hidden.

Heavier consistency with mild carbonation.

Overall, a well done DIPA. To be honest, most of the IPAs and DIPAs I’ve reviewed lately are very similar. This brew falls into the very good but nothing that says “wow” category. Solid but ultimately forgettable…cheers!

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 5/22/24, so 6 weeks old.

Nice looking beer, glowing yellow body, small white head, scattered lacing. Aroma is mildly fruity. On tasting, hoppy, stone fruit, juicy, no evidence whatsoever of the alleged 9.6abv. Finish is mildly fruity hops, mouth close to full.

From a can dated 5/22/24. From the NT Instagram post: “Boat Dock is built for the lazy days with your toes in the water, and the days when you actually launch the boat. Canned on: 5-22-24

A - Pours a hazy light orange color with tons of tiny floaties. Foam is thin, creamy, consistent, and bright white.

S - Lots of bright citrus on the nose with grapefruit and pineapple.

T - Total citrus from start to finish with a slight bit of sweet stickiness to it. Lots of pineapple and pink grapefruit from start to finish and ends balanced with just the right amount of citrus bitterness to counter balance the citrus sweetness.

M - Medium body that's pillowy soft and ever so slight on the chewy side. Carbonation is gentle and there's a slight warming in the back of the throat from the alcohol. (But doesn't detract from the beer.)

O - A solid D-IPA that,'s going down easy on a very hot day.

Fairly active pour yield two fingers of crisp bone white colored froth comprised of loads of medium to large chunky bubbles... Solid retention with a good bit of lacing clinging to the sides of the glass... The color is a slightly hazed lemony yellow / light gold... Big inviting nose... Grapefruit leads the way... Blood orange, kiwi and other assorted tropical goodness... Also some faint musky and earthy vibes goin on as well... Palate is as expected but sharp and to the point... The flavors hit strong and fade a good bit before lingering for a while... Medium bodied... Ultra smooth and ultra crisp with a bit of stickiness... Exceptional beer... New Trail puts out loads of good beers and I'm a bit of a fanboy, but this one is top tier...
