Vivid Glen is that hidden gem, filled with white wheat, red wheat, and oats. Sun bathed in citrus and some fresh cut pine from the addition of Cascade, Chinook, Crystal and Talus dry hops. Grab this Hazy DIPA and go find your Vivid Glen.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $3.99. Canned on 07/17/24, so this is exactly 16 weeks old.

Look: Moderately hazy with an orangey/yellowish glow. There was a finger of compact off-white head that reduced to a very thin layer.

Smell: Pleasant aromas including citrus (grapefruit, orange), stone fruit (mango, peach, even cherry), and a bit of pine and grassiness.

Taste: On the palate, this is much more piney and bitter than the nose suggests. There's just something about drinking this that makes it a bit challenging to consume. Maybe I'm trying to drink it too fast and it tastes a bit too strong and bitter for me. I'm not sure. I think that if it had a bit more sweetness or juiciness then I might like it more. The finish has a solid bitterness and it lingers long. Lots of orange rind and grapefruit pith, also peppery and a bit herbal. This beer shows a bit of fruitiness and juiciness up front, but it ends there and the beer is pretty dry overall. It's quite woody and earthy, probably due to the Chinook hops.

Feel: Carbonation may be a touch high, but overall it's appropriate. The mouthfeel is soft. Medium plus bodied. Oily mouthfeel. It hides the 8.6% ABV well.

Overall: It's pretty good. This never was and probably never will be a favorite style of mine. However, I definitely appreciate the Hazy Double IPA more when it has more of a bitter bite like this one does. I guess that I prefer some of the fruity and juicy aspects in the style as well, so it would be nice to capture some of those also.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 7/17/24, so 3 weeks old.

Nice looking hazy. Solid orange body, persistent white head, fat rings of lacing. A touch of pine comes through on the nose. On tasting, there is a sharp earthy pine note resting on a smooth oat malt base. Finish is a touch warming with a lasting bite.

Overall, something a little different from the masses. Have enjoyed many of NT's dipas over the past few months.

A - Opaque medium yellow gold color with dense, sticky white creamy phone lacing.

S - Grapefruit, fruity, citrus, and some light floral aroma.

T - Light spiciness, floral, citrus, grapefruit, woody, and ends with a light spicy pine bitterness with some wood character.

M - Medium body with light carbonation.

O - Solid but don't care for the woody character of this beer.
