Broken Kingdom is a Hazy IPA collaboration with the crew at Old Thunder Brewing for our 7th Anniversary. We mashed up our Broken Heels with their False Kingdom, drawing on our collective years of experience and innovation to bring you a Hazy IPA that's familiar and all new. Both of our teams selected hops at the same time this year and we were both struck by some of the same hop lots at Van Horn Farms. We brought them home and this collaboration was born. Broken Kingdom is fruit-forward with citrus & tropical leading the way, backed up by rich pine.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 7/9/25, so 7 weeks old.
Medium yellow orange body. Small white head shrinks to a ring and covering, rings if lacing early on. Pleasing mixed fruit aroma. On tasting, fresh, bright, mixed fruit, quite smooth but still a bite. Juicy. Finish evolves into a mild dry hop herbal note.
Overall, enjoying the fresh bright fruit in this one. Maybe 7 weeks is the sweet spot for this hazy, at least to this palate.

Standard haze. Very fresh citrus and tropical aroma with some pine in background. Pine and resin comes to the foreground on the palate. Soft finish with some light bitterness. Emphasis on Simcoe adds interest to what might have been a generic Citra/Mosaic hazy.

Slightly more than a fingers worth of late developing bone white colored froth... Solid retention... Color is a pale hazed golden honey... Light orange notes along with a whiff of wheat and grain... Flavor is consistent with the nose... Feel is medium and moderately carbonated... Just the slightest of chalky finishes... Enjoyable and decent beer, but not the strongest NT offering (or collaboration)...

The pour that emptied the entire contents of a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass revealed a straw-amber colored brew that's hazy, without being overly dull and murky. Thankfully, the mildly tinted head is appropriate for the pour, not excessively foamy as some hazies can get. Not particularly aromatic, as there's no barley malt to be had, there are the intended notes of pine and tropical fruits. It starts out almost citrusy to taste, then transitions to bring a little pininess along. Its body is soft and light, not to a detriment, so it goes down quite easily. This is the epitome of the modern American hazy IPA, not malty, nor boldly flavored, not overly hoppy and rather smooth across the tongue and going down. There's not much glass lacing to contemplate, but with its mouthfeel and well hidden ABV, there shouldn't be much time for that. Overall, it's a very pleasant, yet somewhat undistinguished hazy that shouldn't offend anyone.

Can into pint glass. Pours a very hazy medium gold, with a decent off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is juicy citrus, with mango, pink grapefruit, and pine evident. Mouthfeel is smooth, fairly thick, and chewy. Finish fades to a slightly sweet citrus/pine combo. I usually steer clear of collabs (I think they bring out the worst more often than not), but this one is pretty good!

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a froth white head with good retention.
Pineapple, star fruit, mango, pine and floral hops in the nose.
Taste follows nose with nice hop bitterness and a resinous mouthfeel and a hint of toasted biscuit in the end. Dry refreshing finish.
