Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color hazy straw gold, head is brighter white with fine to small bubbles, head presents one finger then dissipates to thin top, thicker along the glass sides with lacing.
Smell is pretty typical NT DHIPA: mixed/muddled pithy citrus, notable tropical with mango; malt notes of light biscuit and oats.
Taste is more classic NT DHIPA: pithy citrus, some booziness, some tropical fruit, grains are biscuit and oats; no rye flavor comes through but interesting that it's included in the grain bill.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness and light boozy dryness.
Overall an average NT DHIPA but seems to be one that had promise - interesting to add rye to the bill but not allow it to be highlighted in the execution.

This was good yet missing the boldness of New Trail's better DIPAs. Signs of this were apparent on the pour which was just ok with less foam than expected. Scents of citrus and tropical fruits came forth with twinges of dry yeast. Flavors came in a bit underwhelmingly yet fine enough. Dank Citra with tart grape and berry notes were the highlights. This seemed a touch thin for an 8.6% ABV Double Hazy IPA. Pretty much across the board, I expected more out of this given its weight, and although there was nothing wrong in any way, New Trail is capable of better WOW DIPAs. This one leaned towards middling.
