Devil's Trumpet is the first Double IPA we ever brewed a on our 5 BBL Brewhouse. It started as an experiment to brew a hop forward Double IPA with readily available hops that have excellent flavors of citrus and pine. The result was a flavor punch of accidental wonderment. We fell in love with the strong aromas that lead to favors of peach and citrus pine, and immediately added this gem to our regular lineup.

Crowler filled/canned on 3/28/20; released on-tap weekend of 3/6-8; consumed 3/31/20
Pours a glossy opaque burnt orange body topped with a finger and a half of fluffy white foam; decent head retention fades to a spotty, paper-thin cap, slight but creamy collar, and a small spatter of dense, webby lacing.
Aroma opens with a tropical variety lead by mushy mango, pineapple, and lime proceeding into dank tangerine and chalky Pez candy through the middle; dank blueberry and light incense smoke in the background as a casual bready malt presence lies beneath the surface.
Taste brings a medley of dank blueberry, musty peach and apricot, and zesty lemon/lime meshed with medicinal hoppy tones ranging across the palate; dirt, green apple, and overripe stone fruits build on the back end and fade into the finish.
Mouthfeel puts out a tight medium body flowing with a lower carbonation; a casual juiciness courses across the mid-palate as the entirety of the body is smooth and easy overall; a mild alcohol presence verges into a back end that is a touch oily closing in on a finish where wispy acidity meets a flaky malt crispness.
An inherently sweet NEDIPA featuring a cluster of supporting, well-tempered bitter and acidic notes giving this beer ample depth with equally hindered refinement to match. There is a myriad expression here, with only a slight lack of comprehensive form preventing it from coming together beyond its singular elements.

32oz growler from the brewery. Pours a turbid dirty brownish orange with a small amount of head. Some lacing. Sweet aroma of citrus and some pine. Bubblegum, mango, strawberry and peach. The taste is a blend of pine and fruits. Pine sap, peach, strawberry and orange. Crackery malts show up near the end along with more pine and some fruits. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Moderate alcohol heat.
