Our coffee milk stout uses less roasted malts and milk sugar to let the sweetness and rich, bold flavors come through. We want it to be approachable but pleasantly sweet so we thickened it up to a texture that screams dessert... Each batch is dosed with an unreasonable amount of a different single origin, or blend of coffee that we roast and grind ourselves at Tox.

Deadly Nightshade is a milk stout that pours dark brown with an off-white head. The nose is clearly of milk, sugar, and coffee and that follows through into the taste. There's no sense of hop bitterness. My only knock is the mouthfeel gets a little light on the backend.

Canned on 3/10/20
Pours a jet mahogany brown body capped with ⅓ of a finger of creamy off-tan froth; head gives way with little resistance to a light veil of cap, thin collar, and limited strands of thick, webbing along the glass.
Aroma brings a robust, rich flow of fresh coffee beans with a touch of vanilla cream to start, as a crisp roast across the middle accentuates dark fruits, particularly blackcurrant, into nutty, bakers chocolate developing a smooth bittersweetness through the close.
Taste offers malty coffee and a steady stream of dark chocolate upfront as it flows into a mid-palate of creamy vanilla; notes of amaretto and suggestions of a black cherry/blackberry compote emerge into the back end, while spent coffee grounds and charred malt lighten on the finish.
Mouthfeel presents a body on the lighter side of medium lifted slightly by a sparse, prickly carbonation; a soft, creamy texture over the mid-palate transitions with ease to a spritzy, charry roast; lactic tones and a minor acidity takes over quietly on the finish, lingering through the swallow.
A detailed coffee profile balances easily with a smooth lactic sweetness and soft, malty acidity, providing in spots where it falters on roundedness a consistently easygoing approach to robust flavor. In the end, this a perfectly flavorful coffee stout with great repeatability and well-integrated lactose additions.
