It was happenstance that these barrels were available to us right when Feral Dawn was ready for barrels. The bright and unique character of the Apple Brandy barrel shines here with the chocolate notes from the base still present. Our first variant bottle of Feral Dawn with may more planned for the future!

500 ml green wax capped bottle, this was from their recent release about a couple weeks ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that didn't stay around for too long. Not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like apple brandy, dark chocolate, oak and vanilla. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some dark bread, dark fruit and burnt/charred malt flavors. I think the apple brandy stands out in both the aroma and flavor, although it doesn't overpower the other flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, certainly worth trying if you like barrel aged stouts, but really recommend it if you're into apple brandy barrel aged brews! $15.99 a bottle.
