Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 5/20/25.
Appearance: pale golden hue with a dash of haze and a thick two-finger head of frothy ivory foam.
Smell: sweet malt with a kind of earthy aroma with notes of papaya and passionfruit. There's also a little bit of a vegetal quality to the hops here; it's not bad, per se, but not what I'm looking for in the style.
Taste: a lot like the aroma with a somewhat high dose of sweetness and kind of a cloying candied passionfruit kind of vibe going on; maybe some notes of coconut and the aforementioned papaya too. It doesn't feel like a WCIPA to me and it's also not the best hazy, despite the tropical profile and comparatively low bitterness. It's not bad, really, but it's just not super successful in my eyes.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I think maybe not a bad beer, but not at all what I think of as a WCIPA and just in general not attuned to my palate.

really solid beer, one of their more popular ones it looks like, truly west coast, and even though we have all tasted beers like this a million times, simcoe and mosaic, its hard to argue the quality, ipa like this will always be in style in my opinion, and i was pretty stoked on this. i like how light this drinks, the grain is way back, super simple, base malt focused, simple pale barley, and fermented cleanly to dry, so even though its all a fine platform for the hops, its really out of the way. the simcoe is in front of the mosaic to me, familiar grapefruity character in aroma and flavor meets high end weedy dankness, sticky and oily, hashy, concentrated, with some relatively early onset bitterness but it never gets too intense. the mosaic does bring a neat almost candied pineapple thing, along with some compatible meyer lemon character, some pine comes on late, and its got that sappy thing to it, fresh and bright through, resolved by the swallow, well proportioned and with nice movement and flow as it moves. fast carbonation lightens it further, and this ends up being somewhat of a known entity right away, but also a really well composed and executed ipa, everything i want in the style, nothing i dont, approachable bitterness, clean as can be. pretty stoked on urban roots in limited exposure, looking forward to drinking more of their stuff as i encounter it!

Probably my favorite ipa, just so you know my bias.
Nose explodes with pineapple and tropical citrus goodness, taste follows that lead with pineapple and tangerine. Great balance of sweetness and dry bitterness. Eminently drinkable. A master class in a moder west coast ipa from California.

16oz can, red wine glass, canned 7/1/21.
Golden and very slightly hazed with a small white head. There’s some draped lacing.
Good strength in the nose, with pineapple, orange citrus, and a bit of cattiness. There’s a spike of alcohol and some juiciness.
Bitter citrus, grapefruit, and boozy pineapple. The flavors are short, but powerful and cohesive. First you’re hit with the citrus, then the bitterness and alcohol come around the corner and close things out quickly, leaving a bitter, slightly soapy finish.
Light body, medium-high carbonation, slightly rough on the tongue due to the high bitterness.
Very solid West Coast IPA that I’m enjoying very much.

Consumed Thanksgiving week 2018. One of my all time faves from this place with awesome food and predictable/conformist signaling/marketing regarding social issues.
Pours a usual beer colored golden with substantial clarity and 1/2" white head. Looks solid. Aroma pushes hop aroma to such great heights. Has the bouquet of mango, papaya, berries from the Mosaic hops in the nose, but you can still get notes of Simcoe pushing a bitter grapefruit and pine like note through.
Taste, Simcoe takes front stage hitting the Goldilocks zone on bitterness, fully bouyed by a crisp light malt bill, tastes like pilsner, honey pale malt and 2 row, the classics and with the right amount of carbonation for something like this. Looks like I like this more than the average review, but then again, that first score is kind of laughable. This is top notch stuff that pairs with like, every food item I've ever ordered from them (and its been a few). This is one way to make a west coast ipa these days, slightly newer hops like Simcoe and Mosaic instead of the reliable C hops. Either way works for me.

Poured from a can -lemon yellow straw color with white head leaving a bit of foamy lacing. Nose is subtle, slightly fruity with hints of resin. Taste follows more or less ,very mild. Finish is almost dry and slightly bitter. Decent enough.

Canned 19 May purchased at Uptown Market. I'm stoked to finally try something new from Peter.
A clear orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is fresh and fruity, more Mosaic than Simcoe, with passionfruit, peach, melon and a little green grapes. Minimal malt character is noticeable. A delicate undercurrent of pine and citrus pith bitterness is present. The palate opens with a bitterness that's more Simcoe, with an earthy, pine heavy, mildly gritty feel and texture. This is followed by plenty of fruity hops, particularly passionfruit, papaya, a little mango and peach. Drying and bitter on the finish, but also quite fruity. Light in body, this is a tasty representation of where the west coast IPA has gone in the mid to late 2010s.

Lovely clear, golden amber brew with adequate foam in the Affligem chalice. Sudsy and lively on the tongue. Very light body with just a hint of malty sweetness. Moderate bitterness and a decided zing, though not overly acidic. Hint of passionfruit and orange peel in the aroma.
Flavor is clean but subtle. Some malty taste with a fairly dry finish. For what it lacks in hop intensity, it's smooth, crisp, and highly drinkable. Kind of the ideal old school IPA if we weren't so spoiled by all the crazy aromatics and new school hops. From the 16 oz can delivered from Best Damn in San Diego.
