2022 vintage (batch 1); consumed on 4/5/2023
Pours a stark, blackish-brown body capped with two fingers of pale khaki foam; solid head retention yields a persistent and near-creamy ¼ finger of cap, a large, silky collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aromas waft distinct tones of raisin and cherry pie, with supportive toffee esters guiding oak into barrel tannins before evening out to notes of leather on the close.
Taste features dark cacao against a dark cherry compote upfront backed with hints of leather over the mid-palate as bourbon vanillins ease through the back end, leaving sticky caramel fudge balanced with barrel tannins lingering on the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a medium body with a spotty fluff of moderate carbonation, steadily drying to a distant stickiness over the mid-palate and cleaning through the finish with a mild warmth.
Fruity barrel tannins overwhelm a tentative blend, leaving a steady expression rife with inconsistency beyond base levels of leathery malt dispersion; perfectly average, though little more.
