they had this on the menu as tropical ghost when we visited recently, but its the same beer from what i can gather online, looks like the abv varies from batch to batch, they had it at 6.47% on the printed menu, low bitterness, still somewhat old school, a ton of richer malt to it, but instead of piney intense northwestern hops, its profile is fruity and bright, more modern, tangerine and clementine and ripe melon abound in it, and while its sweet, its also delicious, and i think this plays in a space between ipa and pale ale, very hop forward, but also not bitter, best when nice and cold but i thought this warmed up pretty favorably too, well made and distinctive to me, somewhat unexpected in these environs. short of a true amber color, but it looks copper anyway, a thick half inch of white head adorns it from the tap. the aroma and flavor suggest to me this almost has to be fruited, passion fruit, papaya, sweet navel orange, and some oiliness from the hops, if this is all hops, its rad, if its fruit, they should say so, but it does indeed hit tropical as the name suggests, and my gut says its the hops. orange hard candy, kumquat, good hash dankness, and then some warmer baked notes from the grain, yes some sweetness, but it works, really candies up and extends the hops, and it seems nice and fresh. flavorful and somewhat unique, sturdy as pale ale goes, but i like this bigger balance, more bitterness is not needed. the beers were good in here, perhaps underrated overall as a brewery, enjoyed our time!
