On tap today at the brewery, and this 7.5 abv double red ale is very good at very least!
Great red amber color, off white head was minimal on tap, of course , but what a crisp, clean, full flavored red ale!
Smells fresh, and balanced, with abundant malty/fruity-hoppy aromas,
Taste follows the nose, and the abv is not detectable. Had two of these on the patio and it was blissful, rich and fresh malty base lays it down for the appropriate hops and perfect mouthfeel. Would never know it's a double! Get yo self some o this!
Thanks Eddie, and all the folks in Bryson City! Possibly the best local micro Red Ale in NC

I am a sucker for a good red ale and Mountain Layers delivers. A fine malt front with a crisp clean finish.

2nd of three crowlers I picked up at the brewpub. Pours a rich, mostly clear amber color with a medium size white head and rings of lacing on the glass. Good head retention. Aroma is malty - bready malt and some caramel malt. Very pronounced and pleasant. Taste is more of the same, a big malty beer. Hoppiness here is mainly to cut the sweetness of the malt. The bitterness is noticeable, but takes a back seat to the malt. Mouthfeel is crisp and rich. A little bitterness and slightly noticeable alcohol presence. This is a good, strong very tasty Red/Amber ale.
